Easy Berry French Toast

French Toast with Berry Compote and Whipped Cream

French Toast is one of our favorite breakfast recipes regardless of the season and day of the week. These thick, soft, slices of bread soaked in creamy egg mixture and fried to golden brown perfection are incredibly delicious. Probably, that’s one of most indulgent and decadent dishes as well, but sometimes it feels so good to treat yourself with a special meal.

Somehow we used to think of French toast as a special occasion breakfast. In fact, it’s very easy to cook and requires a few simple ingredients. You just need to choose the right bread and a perfect topping. With the bread it’s very simple, we tried lots of variations and decided that Challah is the one to go. It’s soft, fluffy, slightly sweet, and will fully absorb all the silky egg batter – exactly what you need for an ideal French Toast.

Tip: Add a pinch of freshly ground nutmeg to an egg mixture to elevate the flavor.

You can top your French Toast with any topping you like. Maple syrup, honey, or fresh fruits – everything goes well, but our choice is berry compote and whipped cream. Try it and tell us what you think!
